As you all know, Slick Chicks believes in empowering women. We hope you aim for your goals and hustle hard. But what you might not know is that we also hope you get adequate amounts of rest.
We live in a society where we often hear people brag over the minimal amounts of sleep they received and are still able to function. Society even trumps them sometimes as more productive and on the way to success. However, that's not necessarily the case.
Lately, the Slick Chicks team has been head over heels in work-- from overseeing manufacturing to working on future developments. We're working hard to make sure we're bringing our lovely customers the best and occasionally cut down on the amount of sleep we're receiving. That's why we were so awe-inspired by #bossbabe Arianna Huffington's TED talk on the importance of sleep (click the link to watch it now!).
Huffington emphasizes that getting sleep and proper rest is a KEY to success and happiness -- not something optional and definitely not something we should skimp on.
We always hear health societies telling us to get more sleep, and we need to start taking that seriously. Besides the beauty and health benefits, proper rest can increase our happiness and productivity levels. Sleeping well can help us improve our creative thinking, memorization skills, and lead to better decision making.
For the average adult, the National Sleep Foundation suggests about 7 to 9 hours of sleep. Keep in mind that there is a maximum cap. Oversleeping can also be detrimental to the body and mental health. Always try to aim to keep a regular sleeping schedule of about 7 to 9 hours of sleep daily to maintain your body and mind in optimal condition!
We also understand that some days are rough and getting that needed sleep just doesn't happen. In that case, it's a good time to get smart about healthy napping. Taking a well-timed power nap has been proven to increase productivity as well. You can learn more tips on power napping here.
